The 94th Academy Awards came and conquered – and with it came perhaps our favourite
part: the red carpet beauty looks! While luminous skin and high-definition contour may
seem like it’s all in the makeup, we know the secret to acing any base lies in the skin
prep that happens beforehand. And, this just in: we’ve got the scoop on the skincare our
favourite celebrities used, so you can get that A-list glow, too.
All eyes were on Best Actress winner Jessica Chastain this year. With her flawless
face (and that show-stopping Gucci gown) came an impressive lineup of skincare before the
big event. Using all La
Mer, the actress prepped with the hydrating yet lightweight Treatment Lotion, before applying the Hydrating Infused Emulsion. Finally? But of course, Crème de la Mer – the lush, ultra-luxe moisturising cream
that delivers plump, glowing, nourished skin (and the power player behind Chastain’s red
Swooning over Shawn Mendes this awards season? We know we are. Between his signature smize
and luminous skin, Mendes was as polished as can be this Oscars. And we got the lowdown on
his skin prep — it's all thanks to 111SKIN’s and the brand's Celestial Black
Diamond Eye Masks. While getting ready for the big night, Mendes used the highly
potent eye patches that are full of both hyaluronic acid and retinol to help boost
elasticity, fade darkness and smooth the under eye area.
If there’s any way to prep skin for Hollywood glam, it’s with 111SKIN’s
seriously innovative and glow-bestowing skincare. Take note from Mila Kunis, who started
with the brand’s Antioxidant Energizing Essence, which is inspired by
advanced South Korean skin rituals. Unlike a traditional toner, it soaks into the deepest
layers of the skin for a plump and hydrated complexion, instantly. Next, Kunis used the
brand’s Y Theorem Repair Serum NAC Y2 and Y Theorem Day Cream NAC Y2 which provide powerful
anti-ageing benefits (fun fact: these were originally created to support skin’s recovery
post-surgery, with powerful restorative and healing effects!). For added hydration, Kunis
used the Hyaluronic Acid Aqua Booster Serum and finished with none
other t han the brand’s Rose Gold Illuminating Eye Masks – rich in colloidal gold
and rose damask to boost the radiance and luminosity of the under-eye area. Fancy!
If anyone knows how to produce red carpet-ready skin, it’s long-time makeup artist to the
stars, Charlotte Tilbury. And this year’s lady in red, Best Supporting Actress winner Ariana
DeBose, went all out with the brand’s glow-giving skincare collection. Starting with the Cryo Recovery Mask – chilled be forehand in the freezer –
DeBose tapped the brand’s secret weapon to achieving a more lifted, refreshed complexion.
Next up? Charlotte’s Magic Serum Crystal Elixir and Magic Cream, the divine duo that flood your complexion
with moisture and transform any sign of dullness into a dewy canvas for makeup. Finally,
DeBose’s complexion also soaked up some Collagen Superfusion Face Oil, the super plumping,
calming and nourishing formula designed to provide lit-from-within skin.
If you thought Ariana DeBose was the only one tapping Charlotte
Tilbury’s glow secrets, think again. This year, Penélope Cruz’s beauty
look was primed with the brand’s Magic Cream and Collagen Superfusion Face Oil. Cruz also used Lancôme’s Advanced Génifique Serum, which is enriched
with a complex of seven pre and probiotic extracts which act as a serious pick-me-up for
dull, lacklustre or not-so-well-slept skin. We’ll take two, thanks!
Hosting the Oscars red carpet was none other than Vanessa Hudgens, who did some serious skin
prep with all things Mario Badescu this year. Starting with a light
exfoliating cleanse with the brand’s Enzyme Cleansing Gel and following with the smoothing and
brightening Vitamin C Serum, Hudgens’ skin looked bright
as can be. Rocking a nude lip takes preparation too – and Hudgens used the brand’s
cult-favourite Lip Balm to soften, smooth and leave the lips super
supple all night long. No skincare routine is complete without a spritz of Mario Badescu’s
Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs & Rosewater, or a little
love for the body with the Coconut Body Butter – both used on Hudgens to get red
carpet-ready from top to toe.
Admittedly, we can’t be sure exactly which sheet mask Jamie Dornan used to put a
little pep in his skin’s step before hitting up the red carpet. But, if the men among us
want to get in on his glow – or if you want to turn your boyfriend/husband/partner/friend
into Jamie (we don’t blame you!) – Go-To’s serum-drenched Transformazing sheet masks will do the trick, as will Dr.
Dennis Gross’ C+Collagen Brightening Treatment Masks. Thank us later!
