The weather has been unpredictable lately, and getting into a consistent rotation of skincare has been difficult, to say the least. Whether it’s a scorching hot day that calls for cooling gels and sweat-proof protectors—or the air’s muggy and polluted, requiring a hefty dose of antioxidant-rich free radical fighters, finding a reliable everyday routine is as much a guessing game for us as it is for our confused complexions. With an increase in skin stressors, toxins and pollutants, these changing conditions can have a huge impact on the quality of our skin’s microbiome, which can result in breakouts, sensitivity and accelerated ageing. It’s going to be OKAY, just keep calm, and try these post-summer skin suggestions.
A gentle vegan cleanser that easily removes makeup, dirt and pollution without stripping precious moisture or making skin feel tight and uncomfortable post clean. Coconut water and milk leave skin hydrated, and as a result, skin can better tolerate stress and bounce back more effectively, similar to our own internal health. Prickly pear is hydrating and also has anti-inflammatory, barrier-boosting qualities which works to calm and restore skin to its former healthier self.

Lavender is loved for its soothing effect on the nervous system, helping to relax and lull us to sleep—it has the same calming result on stressed skin. It’s paired with witch hazel, one of the oldest ingredients used in skincare because of its ability to remove oil whilst boasting anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. A natural astringent, witch hazel also helps to strengthen capillaries that can often appear from over stimulation or exfoliation, or even inflamed skin from sun exposure over summer.
An alcohol-free toner that will help to soothe skin, rather than dry it out. Calendula is not only soothing and anti-inflammatory, but also antifungal and anti-bacterial, therefore breakout-prone skin types will reap the benefits. Allantoin, which is derived from Chamomile, also features in this bestselling toner to calm itchy or irritated complexions.

We know that our body heals when we sleep, and this is also the time our skin is regenerating and repairing, therefore the perfect opportunity to boost things along with an overnight treatment. With a buttery texture from rich plant oils such as sunflower, jojoba and almond oils which contain essential fatty acids (EFA), this balm mimics the natural fats that help bind your skin cells together. These EFA’s will help to restore your skin’s moisture barrier and help trap precious moisture. Our in-store Skin Specialist suggests using this balm to do a quick de-stress facial massage to help release tension from the day, right before you go to sleep.

Our eyes often show signs of stress and fatigue before anywhere else; squinting, screen time, or lack of sleep results in puffiness, dark circles and dehydration lines. Addressing the eye area first is the best quick fix. Reishi mushroom will help to strengthen the delicate skin, so skin is more resilient, also working to soothe any irritation while reducing the visible signs of redness.
A cooling, soothing 15-minute multitasking mask that not only provides immediate relief to strung-out skin, but also works to strengthen the skin’s barrier and overall resilience to stress. This mask is made with real Greek yoghurt, complete with pre and probiotics to support the good bacteria that, in turn, help to defend the skin from bad bacteria. The yoghurt also feeds dry and irritated skin. For extra pampering, try the mask as a sleeping facial: smooth on a thin layer before bed and wake up to plumper skin. Use 2-3 times per week, or daily to help pull you out of a bad skin slump.
